So I messaged you the other day because you liked that post. And I went through your blog a little. Well I just scrolled pretty far down, and I'm thoroughly impressed! You're insanely artistic. I was curious how you come up with the stuff you do. See I can copy almost anything, but I can't just draw. Like I struggle to create the image in my mind I guess.. Any suggestions on what to do. I feel terrible just copying peoples art

Hey again and thankyou also!! I understand what you mean completely! It is hard coming up with stuff/free drawing and I’ve only got better at it because I’m making things most days .What helped me with my imagery/scenes was making collages with photos I took/national geographic book photos. I’d organise them into a collage on paper and then move them around and draw it; it always helped my mind think about composition/where figures should sit in the image. Some of my work will reference a photo I’ve taken but then I’ll sort of “make up”/free draw imagery around it. I think what helped me feel confident in free drawing stuff was doing life drawing with naked models/drawing from real life (sitting in the park, asking friends to pose, drawing your morning tea etc). If you draw real life things most days this endless practice will really help you to make up your own imagery and if you buy a good sketchbook you can refer to parts of your drawings you like and experiment with these in new drawings. Taking your own photos really helps too/you don’t need to feel bad about using them as reference as they’re yours. Going to any exhibition you can helps a million too, I’ve been particularly inspired by the painters Hieronymus Bosch and Caravaggio!
